Meet Attorney James Patton
With more than 30 years as a trial lawyer, James Patton has gained the knowledge necessary to be named as a New Jersey certified criminal trial attorney. This designation is granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court, and only goes to an elite group of attorneys who demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in criminal trial practice.
In addition to the significant knowledge gleaned from his own firm's work in criminal defense and matrimonial matters, his experience as a prosecutor with the Manhattan DA's office, and as a federal prosecutor, combine to give him not only skill in the court room, but the ability to anticipate possible pitfalls and address them as well as make educated guesses about probable outcomes for a particular type of case.
His Essex County practice today consists of three primary areas of law: criminal defense, defending those with matrimonial and child support issues, and representing individuals and small businesses in state and federal appeals.
